Electrical Team

The Electrical Team engineers the AR glasses' full electronic system, including PCB design, battery integration, sensor interfacing, and power management. They enable advanced features such as haptic feedback, real-time sensor fusion, and high-efficiency communication between hardware layers, laying the foundation for responsive XR interactions.

Mechanical Team

The Mechanical Team creates detailed designs and manufactures the headset’s enclosure and attachment mechanisms. This team also implements the entire headset assembly while integrating individual system components. Design verification analysis for thermal activity, structural stress and user comfort in the end product is conducted also by the mechanical.

Software Team

The Software Team builds the intelligence behind the headset. They develop low-latency spatial mapping, SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) algorithms, and real-time data processing to anchor virtual objects accurately within the physical world. Their systems drive hand tracking, environment sensing, and intuitive haptic feedback to deliver a seamless XR experience.

Modelling and Research Team

The modelling team creates applications and animations in various game engines. UCXR primarily uses Unity, but more recently we have started to explore Unreal Engine. This team explores new technologies to integrate into projects such as a brain computer interface (BCI). Most recently the modelling team has been working on expanding UCXR's skeletal asset base to make a medical learning application to visualize anatomy in 3D.
